A project coordinator is one way in which you can directly
get involved in the activities of AID. Since we coordinate projects
with NGOs in India, it is important to be able to communicate the
issues the NGO faces to the volunteers here so we can make educated
decisions about what actions we can take.
Being a project coordinator will also enhance your own
knowledge about development from the perspective of an NGO working on
the ground.
There is no term for a project coordinator, and typically
project coordinators work with the NGO and project up to a phase when
we can make a funding decision on the proposal. Post funding coordinators
are often more important, so roles can shift depending on the state
of the project.
Some of the activities of a project coordinator might include making
project site visits, contacting foundation grant agencies, raising
awareness on the project, analyzing project proposals etc.
