All the events described above reflect the conviction of AID volunteers that India can only be healthy if its society is plural and all encompassing. Strategies to combat hatred and divisiveness need to go even beyond these current efforts however. The only real way to peace is through engaging the community: facilitating the honest exchange of opinions and impressions of diverse community members, stressing the fundamental human values of compassion and non-violence, and overcoming deep-seated prejudices through the dispelling of myths and dialogue with others. The need to raise awareness and build bridges among different regional, ethnic and religious groupings in the Indian and South Asian community is here and now.

Note: It is important to note that AID chapters arrange for a large variety of speakers, representing an umbrella of views, to speak to volunteers and community members. This does not imply that AID endorses the views of the speakers it hosts. The purpose of such events is primarily awareness and the search for solutions or ideas to help achieve our dream of a harmonious India.
