Swami Vivekananda once taught us : "Practical Advaitism looks upon and behaves to all mankind as one's own Soul. If ever any religion approached this equality in an appropriate manner, it is Islam. I am firmly persuaded that without the help of practical Islam, the theories of Vedantism, however fine and wonderful they may be, are entirely valueless to the vast mass of mankind. For our own motherland, a juncture of two great systems, Hinduism and Islam: Vedantic brain and Islamic body, is the only hope. I see in my mind's eye the future, perfect India rising out of the chaos and strife, glorious and invincible, with Vedantic brain and Islamic body." India needs economic development that could give two meals to lakhs of people who go hungry every night. As Maulana Abul Kalam Azad said long before Independence, "The most vital and urgent of India's problems is how to remove the curse of poverty and raise the standards of the masses. It is to the well being and progress of these masses that the national struggle has directed its special attention and its constructive activities. And it will be judged by the well being and advancement that people make. Anything that comes in the way of the good of the masses of our country must be removed." In light of these beautiful teachings, we the volunteers of AID, appeal to all of you to open your hearts to bring to bring solace to those who have suffered and continue to suffer from the "chaos and strife" of the last few weeks in our beloved Gujarat which is blessed with the priest of Non-violence Gandhiji. We are making humble efforts to work with our collaborators in Gujarat to help restore peace and harmony. Your contributions will go a long way to encourage them to work with determination. Please support our efforts by contributing to these and other sustainable development projects. |
